MaxMobile Sync Becomes Unresponsive

Problem

MaxMobile sync hangs despite all attempts to reset the device and reinstall MaxMobile. There are no error messages.

Solution

WARNING! Be extremely careful when updating the Windows Registry. Incorrectly modifying registry keys can lead to catastrophic program and system failure. If you are unsure about any of the following steps, please consult with an experienced Windows user or a system administrator.

Search for each of the following files in the registry and change the ThreadingModel to Both:

  • MeciSync.dll
  • MeciDataMAPI.dll
  • MeciDataMaximizer.dll
  • MeciDataRim.dll
  • MeciDataWCE.dll

Follow the procedure below to resolve this issue:

  1. Go to the Start Menu (or Windows button) and select Run.
  2. Type in REGEDIT and click OK.
  3. Navigate to the \\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID folder
  4. Right click the \\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID folder and select Find.
  5. Search for one of the above files.
  6. If the search returns a result, change the ThreadingModel key to Both.
  7. Repeat the search for each of the files from the list above.
