Installing Maximizer CRM 11 on 64-Bit Operating Systems

Problem

During the installation of Maximizer CRM 11, you receive the following error message:

The Maximizer setup has detected that you have a previous installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express that must be uninstalled before you can proceed with the Maximizer installation. Back up your Address Books, uninstall the Maximizer instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express, and run this installation again. Refer to the Maximizer Administrator's Guide and the Maximizer knowledge base for detailed information.

Reason

You are attempting to upgrade Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express 32-bit edition to Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express 64-bit edition.

Solution

If you are upgrading Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express from the 32-bit version to the 64-bit version of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express, the 32-bit version must be uninstalled before you can proceed with the Maximizer installation. Ensure you back up your Address Books, uninstall the Maximizer instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express, and then run the Maximizer installation. You must also restore your Address Books to a new database.

Note that if you have not restored your Address Books to a new database, the Address Books will be listed in the Open Address Book dialog box, but will be inaccessible. The reason for this is the location of the Address Books has changed with the installation of the 64-bit version of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express.
